Yet again I move and change mickwest.com, this time I’ve move it from my linux server that sits under my desk to Yahoo’s hosting with a Wordpress blog.

Why? The linux server was free, but it was a real pain to change anything on it, plus it just ran over my DSL line, hence was slow to the outside world, plus I always feared the day the hard drive would grind to a halt, and I’d have to re-install the whole thing.

I wanted to use GoDaddy initially, since they host my “professional” site (cowboyprogramming.com) but Yahoo already had my mickwest.com email account, and upgrading to web hosting gave me better email control and was a simple upgrade.

They also had automatic Wordpress installation – not that it’s hard, but it cuts the five minutes down to thirty seconds, with no editing of config files or setting up databases.

Right, now I should try and restore all the old pages from my old site. Then I can finally switch off the Linux box.
